True Kindness Resides in the Body, Not Just the Brain: What is "Affective Empathy" in the Age of AI?

Today, I’d like to dig deeper into the concept of "kindness"—something most people think they already know and practice.
I believe that people with "true kindness" will become more valuable than ever in the near future.
When we think about kindness, we often see it as a matter of morals or ethics.
However, from a scientific perspective, the ability to truly connect with others is not something you learn from a textbook; it is a physical reaction that happens before logic even kicks in.
In the field of neuropsychology, it is known that empathy has two distinct layers:
Cognitive Empathy: Analyzing a person’s situation and logically guessing how they feel.
Affective Empathy (Physical Empathy): Mirroring the other person’s breathing or muscle tension in your own body through the brain's "mirror neurons" and "insula."
For example, seeing someone suffer and thinking, "Oh, how sad," is the Cognitive side.
On the other hand, Affective empathy is when your heart rate rises or your muscles ache before you even speak—as if your body is "re-enacting" their pain.
That feeling of "sensing your mother's anger just by her back" is the foundation of true kindness.
Currently, the world is moving toward avoiding "friction" to prevent harassment, reducing raw human interaction.
Meanwhile, social pressure to "read the room" is increasing.
This can cause "Cognitive Empathy" to go into overdrive, fueling anxiety and division. We cannot grow true resonance simply by following templated emotional scripts.
In the near future, where we live alongside AI, "Cognitive Empathy" will be handled by digital agents. Fewer people will choose to take on "Affective Empathy" because it involves physical pain.
In such a world, this mysterious ability to resonate through the body will likely become the ultimate superpower left to humans.
People who face others with hesitation—wondering, "Will this hurt them?"—while navigating the tension of real connection, are sensitive to the "warmth" behind words.
The reason we feel a deep sense of peace around such people is that their "primitive resonance"—the feeling that they are sharing our pain—melts away our loneliness.
Even if AI can instantly find the "correct answer" for human relationships, I believe people will ultimately seek the "living warmth" of someone who can feel their pain beating alongside them.
